Tips for a Strong Complaint Report

Provide as much detail as possible:

  • Your contact information

  • Your observations (check all that apply)

  • Specific dates and times of observations

  • Additional notes or relevant details

Optional supporting evidence may include:

  • Photos of activity or property conditions (no people required)

  • Specific details such as number of vehicles, frequency of activity, or license plate states

Important Notes

  • Provide factual observations, not assumptions or conclusions

  • A complaint does not determine that a violation exists; it provides information for the Town to review and investigate

  • Do not include personal, private, or sensitive information about guests

The following STR indicators can be selected in the SAFERR-EH complaint report:

 

General
☐ Current STR listing with < 30 day min stay
☐ Guest reviews published after Jan 2026
☐ Permitted STR renting more than once every 7 days
☐ Guest count exceeds ordinance requirements
☐ Short-term guests in unpermitted STR

Primary Residence
☐ No evidence of permitted owner at residence this week

 

Guest Turnover & Stay Patterns
☐ Different groups staying at the property frequently
☐ Activity primarily on weekends (Fri–Sun)
☐ Property appears intermittently occupied between stays
☐ Guests stay only a few days at a time

Vehicles & Arrivals
☐ Frequent turnover of unfamiliar vehicles
☐ Out-of-state license plates observed regularly
☐ Ride-share / airport drop-offs observed
☐ Guests arriving with luggage or suitcases

Arrival / Check-In Behavior
☐ Occupants appear unfamiliar with the property or neighborhood
☐ Guests using lockbox or keypad to enter
☐ Arrivals at late or unusual hours

Property Operations
☐ Cleaning crews visiting frequently
☐ Property management or maintenance visits between stays
☐ Repeatedly elevated trash volume

Activity & Use
☐ Different groups using outdoor areas
☐ Late-night noise followed by property being vacant shortly after
☐ Frequent turnover of people using the property
